What we do

Register of Deceased does collect, enrich and digitize the data of deceased persons.

What we offer

We offer various services based on: the collected data of deceased persons.

ARE YOUR CUSTOMER FILES UP TO DATE?

OR DO THEY CONTAIN RECORDS OF PEOPLE WHO DIED WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE

With our service, we want to prevent unnecessary correspondence addressed to deceased persons. Annoying and often painful for the next of kin. Also for the organizations that send this correspondence. They incur costs without any return. It leads to extra costs and possibly to image damage
Register of Deceased records the data of deceased people in Belgium on a daily basis from more than 600 sources; both in Flanders and Wallonia.
In 2022, we registered the data of more than 101,750 deceased persons.

Our web service makes it easy and quick to check whether a relation has died. But we also offer other practical other services. See menu item FOR COMPANIES

Our mission

We help organizations prevent correspondence to the deceased pesons. Surviving relatives do not always inform organizations about the death of their loved one. Also, not all organizations receive death notifications from the government. As a result, organizations incur costs without receiving any revenue. This often results in unnessary costs and possibly even damage to companies image.

With our data and services you can relatively easily update consumer files with the date of death and prevent future  correspondence with them.

About us

Register of Deceased collects the data of deceased persons every day with great care and precision. We record personal data and the location of death in files. In addition to the details of the deceased, we often also have the evidence on the basis of which we registered the data.

Our database contains data on deaths from 2015 onwards. Since 2019, we have registered 80-90% of all deaths in Belgium

Our services

Our services are based on the data of deceased persons in or database and consist of :

- Web service -

We offer a web service (API) that can be used to check whether a person is registered as deceased using the surname and date of birth. You can easily test the operation of the web service in our web service screen. Click here to go to the web service screen. Enter the surname and date-of-birth and you will see whether the person is registered.

Communication with the web server is encrypted based on HTTPS. This means that the data is encrypted and cannot be read if it were tapped.

- Periodic file deliveries -

We can, under special conditions, provide periodic updates in CSV file format, which includes all registered data of deceased persons. You can compare the file with the personal data in your relationship files and provide the deceased customers with a date of death.

Privacy Legislation

Our services comply with current Belgian and European privacy legislation. The belgium.be website refers to the europa.eu. website for Belgian privacy legislation. This page states at: Whereas (27) This regulation does not apply to the personal data of deceased persons. In short, the content of the Death Register database is privacy proof. However, this does not mean, that we make the registered data available without conditions.

Extra Secure!

The content of the Diseased Register is privacy proof and communication with our web service is encrypted. The data retrieved with the web service is usually from individuals who are still alive, which is subject to strict privacy rules. We can imagine that organizations have additional security requirements when using the web service. Therefore, we have also developed an extra secure web service that makes it possible to check anonymously whether a person has died.

The anonymized data are, as Ghent University explains on its website, "irreversible" after encryption. In other words, the anonymized data cannot be traced back to the original data.

Prior to anonymization, the data in question are unified and standardized. After this, the data are anonymized to the Death Register code.

The technical description explains how we technically realized the anonymization. Of course, this techniology can also be used with the Monitoring service. Separately, of course, it is also possible to request the proof of registration
